Join us once again to view and enjoy Italian films. This year’s selections will look to some aspects of Italian history, literature and culture.

A film by Enzo Monteleone with Paolo Briguglia, Silvio Orlando, Giuseppe Cederna, Pietro Maggio`, Pierfranco Favino, Luciano Scarpa. Emilio Solfrizzi, and Thomas Trabacchi. Monteleone’s stunning account of one of the ‘abandoned’ Pavia divisions in the Egyptian desert during World War II presents a composite from the participants’ diaries and oral accounts. 2002

Lucia, a bright marketing expert, finds out that Paolo, a close friend since childhood whom she loves secretly, is going to marry her best friend. Lucia does not want to loose ‘her’ man. A film by Gillo Pontecorvo with Yes Montand and Alida Valli. Based on the novel Squarcio by Franco Solinas. Yves Montand stars as Squarcio, a fisherman struggling to support his family. A touching movie that marks the debut of the great movie director Gillo Pontecorvo. The movie arrived in the United States in recent years thanks to the director Jonathan Demme and actor Dustin Hoffman. 1957
