The new show at Gallery One is an interesting duo of artists: Hella Merrill & Olga Storms. I’ve always loved the work that Hella Merrill does with en caustic on metal. Her art is calming with earth tones and subtle dynamics of the interplay of texture, shape & color.

I was happy to see Gretchen Singer back behind her counter at the Singer Gallery on Western. They currently are showing much of the exhibit with which they have traveled this summer. I’m particularly fond of the bright quilt like patterns of one of their photographers, Jeanine Lively.

The Tea Room Cafe (316 Western) started hosting local artists this summer. I finally made it by yesterday to see the art by Ray. When I met Ray, he showed me a couple small pieces of his. For the month of August 2009 you will find the east wall of the Aquas cafe adorned with the artwork of a couple dozen artists from the Petaluma Arts Association (PAA).
